in Session 10 we were asked to explore various tools in which we could create our own slideshow. I decided to work with an online tool called Animoto . Thus far, I have created all of my presentations using Microsoft Powerpoint, so I was excited to explore other tools that I could potentially use. I found Animoto very easy to use, and an effective tool for creating my short presentation. It allowed me to create a completely personalized slideshow by uploading my own pictures, selecting the music, and layout style.
I was asked to create a brief presentation about copyright, an important topic for all digital citizens. I have discussed this issue in previous sessions, and by reviewing the concept numerous times we can see why it is so important. Through my presentation, I demonstrated that any work- pictures, text, and videos could be copyrighted. It is important for Internet users to give credit to the original author when using their work. A “C” indicates that the work is copyrighted, and that you must properly cite it.
Animoto contributed to my digital citizenship, as it required me to use an advanced Google search to find images there were free to use, modify, and share. I was not aware previously that you could filter through material on the Internet this way. I have learned the importance of citing other people’s work, and I hope that through my blog others can also grasp how important this topic is!
